It's fall ya'll! We absolutely love this time of year! The leaves changing colors, the crisp fall air, and shorter days that help us all slow down.

Here at the office, we have a bit of a sweet tooth and love the fact that Halloween gives us an excuse to overindulge. Because of this, we wanted to find some fun treats to make that are healthier for the body than processed sugar that comes with candy, but still sweet and delicious.

Here are a couple of our favorite healthy Halloween treats recreated from Pinterest :)

Monster Apples

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Apples
  • Almond Butter
  • Sunflower Seeds - We recommend pumpkin spice sunflower seeds from Trader Joes. Delicious!
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Strawberries
  • Mini Marshmallows

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut your apples in quarters and remove the core. You should be able to make four monsters out of one apple.
  2. On the side of the apple with the skin, carefully carve the middle portion out to make the mouth. These don't need to be perfect, because you will be filling them in with "teeth"!
  3. Spread almond butter inside the mouth area you just cut.
  4. Push the sunflower seeds into the "upper mouth" to resemble teeth. These monster apples clearly haven't visited their dentist in quite some time! Yikes!
  5. Use the mini chocolate chips and mini marshmallows to create eyes, with a bit of almond butter to help them stick.
  6. Cut the strawberries into strips, lengthwise and place inside of the mouth as the monster's tongue.

*To help prevent to apples from browning, spray or rub each quarter with lemon juice.

Fruit Filled Jack-O-Lantern

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Oranges
  • Your favorite fruits - We recommend grapes, apples, and strawberries

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Carve a fun Jack-O-Lantern face into the side of each orange.
  2. Over a large bowl, to catch the juices, cut the tops off your oranges and scoop out the pulp with a spoon until the orange is mostly empty.
  3. Cut up your favorite fruit into small pieces and fill your Jack-O-Lantern.

"Boo"nana Pops

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Bananas
  • Vanilla Yogurt
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  • Popsicle Sticks/Cookie Sticks
  • Freezer Paper

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Peal, then cup bananas in half.
  2. Cut each half of the banana lengthwise, so that the bananas lay flat.
  3. Carefully push the Popsicle stick into each banana piece.
  4. Dip the banana into the yogurt so that it is completely coated.
  5. Lay the coated banana onto freezer paper and add mini chocolate chip eyes.
  6. Put the "Boo"nana Pops into the freezer and allow to freeze overnight.
